The Farne Islands

Seahouses is the stepping stone for trips to The Farne Islands, which lie two to three miles off the coast. They are the most famous Sea Bird Sanctuary in the British Isles and they also have a large colony of grey seals.

In the breeding season it is home to several nesting seabirds such as terns, puffins, guillemots, shags, eider ducks and kittiwakes - very noisy!

There are several trips each day to the islands, which can be booked from the harbour. Whilebirdwatchers have plenty to watch above water below water divers can explore numerous wrecks, sometimes with some help from the inquisitive seals.

Golf

This area is a golfer’s paradise as there are 16 golf courses within 35 miles of here. Seahouses golf course is a five minute walk from the guest house golf club hire is available in Seahouses.

Further afield

Walkers and cyclists can also enjoy the many scenic routes in the area. Why not enjoy a horse ride or a stroll along the award winning beaches with magnificent views of the castles at Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and Holy island?

Alternatively, venture further inland to Alnwick and visit the historic market town with its castle and the Alnwick Garden, one of the world’s most exciting contemporary gardens...
